Jouko Karjalainen is senior lecturer at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management in Helsinki University of Technology. He has 20 years of experience in applying and teaching management accounting. Karjalainen has consulted several companies and has written numerous books, articles and conference papers on the subject. Previously Karjalainen has worked as acting professor, project manager and researcher at the Helsinki University of Technology, and as a controller in a medium-sized Finnish company. Jouko Karjalainen gained M.Sc., Lic.Sc. and D.Sc. in Industrial Management from Helsinki University of Technology in 1985, 1991 and 1997 respectively. His current research interests lie in management accounting with the focus on the management of inter-firm value creation and strategic cost management.
